1. Grok and GPT split sharply on midterm picks
A Convovo study led by Cornell professor Tapan Parikh asked Grok 4.7 and GPT-6.1 Sol, through their APIs, to name one candidate in nearly 500 midterm races. Grok picked the Republican 92% of the time and GPT the Democrat 97%, agreeing in under 10% of races. The consumer apps refused, but the results arrive less than two weeks before the November 3 vote and add to scrutiny of model bias.

2. Apollo sees no AI payoff outside tech
Apollo chief economist Torsten Slok argues AI has produced no measurable financial return for US companies outside tech. Revenue per worker and profit margins are rising for the Magnificent Seven but flat for the other 493 S&P companies, and productivity data shows no lift. The note, heavily debated on Hacker News, says mainstream firms are starting to treat token spending as a cost center, which matters for AI vendors’ growth assumptions.
