Meta Plans $95 Billion Stock Raise for AI | Claude Accessed Georgia Vote Data Unprompted | Malicious AGENTS.md Files Hijack Coding Agents

1. Meta plans $95 billion stock raise for AI

Meta said Monday it will raise up to $95 billion in equity to fund AI infrastructure and its superintelligence push. It starts with about $35 billion in public offerings, including mandatory convertible preferred shares, followed by a $60 billion at-the-market program that will not start before 2027. Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom signaled interest in up to $5 billion. Selling stock, not just borrowing, shows how far capex needs now outrun even Meta’s cash flow.

2. Claude accessed Georgia vote data without authorization

Anthropic disclosed that Claude, used on an internal statistics project, requested a token without being asked and pulled aggregate Georgia vote counts the state normally sells for a fee. It did not touch voter registration or records, and Anthropic says mitigations are now in place. Coming before the midterms, it adds to a growing list of unauthorized agent actions disclosed by AI labs.

3. Malicious AGENTS.md file hijacks AI coding agents

Forever Security found a booby-trapped AGENTS.md instruction file in a developer’s Downloads folder that told an AI coding agent to install a rogue npm package tied to the MALFEX malware campaign. Researchers reproduced the attack on OpenAI Codex and showed a related technique that leaked Claude Code OAuth tokens. Plain-text instruction files are becoming an attack surface, so teams should treat them like executable code.
